Awake! for Morning in the Bowl of Night
Has flung the Stone that puts the Stars to Flight :
And Lo! The Hunter of the East has caught
The Sultan's Turret in a Noose of Light

This is the first in the series of "One Verse a Day" recited from Edward FitzGerald's famous 'translation' of Omar Khayyam's quatrains. This verse is a description of a glorious sunny dawn, full of promise - such as in the youth of life - as the rising sun (the Hunter of the East) illuminates a tower of a palace - as it illuminated minarets in Turkey when I was driving past at dawn.
