This was one of the first albums that started my interest in his style of music. Each on of his pieces caused me to feel hope, faith, pleasure, happiness, and pride. As a man of color, his music helped me to deal with the way society was back then. Thank you Donald Byrd.

Hey bro do not feel bad for not knowing.Lots of people are ignorant to the fact that the music of our time paved the way for the so called artist of today, taking nothing from them as far as talent is concerened by no means, but lets face it the music of yesterday has inspired the artist of today.

At the young age of 4-5 growing up in San Diego ,CA of Panamanian-Filipino descent my brother would jam to this cut. It brings happiness to this world. Thank you to all who were a part of it.

WOW!! I always thought The Brand New Heavies invented jazz and R&B cuz I bought their first CD back in 1990, but I was dead wrong! You gotta forgive me, ya'll, I'm only 40 lol ...DR. DONALD BYRD INVENTED JAZZ AND R&B. "The Dude" recorded in the mid 70's sounded like it came from the mid 90's..MY GOD! He was way ahead of his time. RIP Dr. Byrd....

Dr. Byrd may have had trepidations recording this "sound" during the 70's but the younger audience developed the consciousness of black pride while educating, He became the best selling artist out of the BlueNote stable while introducing an entire new sound that was beyong labeling at the time. We call it Jazz Funk but what it did was prolong an appreciation for great arrangement and hip vocals (thanks to the Mizell Brothers) for many years to come. RIP Mr. Byrd and Fonce Mizell.

This came out during my last year of college in 1974. Listened to it all the time and hearing it again just brings back some great memories. Great tune!
