Thermometer in the lid would help. When you start cooking watch temp. Methanol boils at around 142f . Temp will stay around there until it is all boiled off then temp will rise again to around 172f. That's when yer makin the good stuff. Temp will again stabilize there until the ethanol is all cooked off. The temp will then skyrocket and you will be distilling water so you should quit at that point.

@WaLD0isL0st The first 500mil will be methanol. After that it's ethanol. You need to make bigger batch's so you can temper the shine. Also you need to make multible batches and save the backin's and wine's. In fact you should throw out at least 2 runs before you start drinkin it, if just startin. Then reduce it to 50% or so. Drinkin it like these guys are is hard core. Not hatin on ya fella's...
