the courage of burmese people in southeast Asia, i folllowed them trying to understand their plight, their fight, their sadness, their rage for freedom and democracy. The following film is a extract from one very moving and risky moment among thousands of them when i admired their great courage, when the sense of democracy took its real sense. Even though they are afraid of getting arrested after this demonstration, they have this urge to demonstrate once more : Getting back Democracy in their country, getting back the freedom of their people and of themselves out of exile. This is a question of life and death. This shouting is coming from the heart and calls the world to have a look on what is happening in Burma and outside of Burma for all the people fleeing....

Those men in the video are among the Modern Heroes Fighting to get the Democracy in their country, Myanmar. They are hostage in their country, Myanmar as well as in their exile in the neighbooring countries ( Malaysia and Thailand) . They took the risk to loose their little freedom and their life when they went in the streets to claim democracy in their Burma ( Myanmar). Few years back they have become the number one ennemy of the Myanmar( Burma) Junta . They had no choice but to run away...far away in order to avoid torture, jail and death. Without much thoughts, they flew in neighbooring countries ( Malaysia, Thailand mainly) in order to keep their life and freedom of moves.

They fled the lack of Democracy, the killing, the jail and the torture, they also fled daily forced labour and oppression.

They have become refugees in the neighboorhing countries but, unexpectedly, in exile, they are hunted as illegals in Malaysia even though they are recognised by UNHCR. Lots of themm once arrested are tortured again, canned, human trafficked...

Malaysia does not recognize refugee status and authorities hunt them to sent them to detention and deport them in horrific conditions.

They then have no other choice than continue to fight and shout loud for Democracy in Burma , for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi , one of the most well known democracy fighter for Burma, Nobel price for peace, today under house arrest for over 15 years.

Those Burmese however take the Risk. They Risk their life and their freedom by going back in front of their Embassy and continue the fight. The pressure is high because so is the Risk... to go and demonstrate in front of the Myanmar embassy could lead them directly to jail in Malaysia, as it does happen regularly.

Malaysia authorities have a policy to arrest burmese refugees and asylum seekers and send them to deportation where they are either sent to the junta or human trafficked.

Myanmar embassy take the opportunity to take picture of each of those men who are shooting here DEMOCRACY and the Release of AUNG SAN SUU KYI, the Nobel peace prize winner, under house arrest for so many years.

Everyday in Malaysia hundreds of burmese are arrested and send to detention camps. They are deported everyweek in terrific conditions.

However, they take the risk to come in front of the embassy and claim for a return of Democracy in their native country.

They take the risk to get arrested by local authorities with the hope that their voice will be heard before they get arrested, with the hope that foreign media will be there to cover their silent fight, and that one day ... Aung san suu kyi will be free ... People from Burma will be free ... and that they will also be free themselves to go back home and leave peacefully in a Democratic country , far from a life of daily fear.

If they dont shout NOW , if they don't Risk NOW, Who will do for them? who will listen and spread the word?

we?

This is happening now. they are shouting today , everyday , silently in countries where they are treated like animals most of the time. This is happpening now . Let them be heard. Let People from Burma have a voice.

They know that the day Aung San Suu Kyi will be released will be a day of hope for a democracy. They need our voice to accompany theirs. Let Burmese people be heard.

As Aung San Suu Kyi said " please use your freedom to promote ours"
