This guy played in the C.F.L. for the ill fated Las Vegas Posse team. He made a fool of himself by signaling for a fair catch, even though the C.F.L. didn't have that wuss rule. He ended up getting plowed under, thinking the play was dead! He later got the kick and ran into the endzone and got tackled for a safety! Great athlete? Yes. Dumb athlete? Definitely!
@pjsmoov72 That's not true David Williams of the Bears returned a KO in OT vs the Lions on Thanksgiving day back in the early 80's. Vanover was a bad ass though.........
I'm a HUGE FSU FAN til I die! I LUV Tamarick Vanover, he was quick & fast @ punt & kick returns BUT da MOST exciting returner was & ALWAYS will be is PETER WARRICK aka P'DUB! Peter Warrick was elusive & slippery as fuck! He can make a simple 6yard run, catch, punt return, kick return or qb draw look like a 90yard run just because he shook, jook & evaded defenders like it was nothing! SEMINOLES 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vanover was a beast. I remember him for his time at FSU and as being the first NFL player to return the opening kick off in overtime to win a game. Ahhhh, the memories.
When it comes to explosive kick returners, Vanover is one of the first ones I think of. Peter Warrick was shifty and so is Greg Reid, but Vanover just found the seam and turned it up another notch to outrun opponents. He was electrifying, especially as a freshman in '92. One of the all-time great Florida State athletes, only got to see him in garnet and gold for two years before he opted for the draft.

Gosh I love this old stuff. Once upon a time, I had all these old games on VHS. God Bless you, jermadem for posting this. While you're at it, post the video of Casey Weldon's long TD pass to Lawrence Dawsey in the 90 game and Warrick Dunn's long TD catch from Charlie Ward in the 93 game.

That 1992 FSU team was flat out nasty, I'd honestly take them over their 1991 and 1993 team.

Tamarick Vanover meet Greg Reid. Carrying on the tradition, I love FSU's history.

You have to respect the great players FSU has fielded through the years.
