Saddle up for a tour of some modern ghost towns in the new west. We have been distracted by the residential real estate meltdown. But the coming commercial crash is going to dwarf what has come so far.

  • Great video loved hearing you speak, and your right we do need new urban gardens

  • @cafe2006 Thank you! I'll be shooting this weekend, and posting by Wednesday. A different spin on the same reality. Hope it has value for you.

  • Thank you - good video, though a terrible shame to see the ghost effect.

Would you care to interview folk from the remaining business premises - I would like to hear their story.

  • Thank you all for the feedback. I'll post a sequel soon. Despite the currently "up" stock market, and a smattering of "happy talk," things are about to move to the next level.

Get as ready as you can. Change is coming.

  • Wow I used to go there all the time. There was a tower records right near that bank building.

  • It's still there. But the center it's in is looking pretty "underused."

  • Great video, finally some narration instead of those videos that only have music. I wish you'd do a video of an abandoned ghost mall. Americas got a 1,000 taj mahals of shopping being bulldozed for economics.

  • great video thanks mate!

  • america deserves it credit bubble, debt ceiling debackle, retail blight, commercial conundrum, and decay of retail. Stop your dumb wars, you are NOT the policeman of the world, also., outsourcing to cheap china and india was your death blow, now live in your shit you dummies!!!!

  • MIGHT AS WELL JUST SAY AMERICA INSTEAD OF MESA BROTHER!

  • Great voice commentary!:) I have a feeling it will get a lot worse. I now prefer to do all my clothes and shoe shopping online. Music and DVDs as well. I save on gas, wear and tear on my car, my sanity because I know longer fight the crowds, no longer have to search for parking space, or fight the traffic. I think it's great!:)

  • With a voice like that, you can be on NPR

  • Why lament the end economic insanity? All these malls you've outlined are the remnants of an artificial economy built off bad loans, something had to give. I think we're far better off now than we were before. At least we're facing the problem. Maybe we've all learned that what's good for Wall Street isn't necessarily good for you and I? Hopefully so.

  • lol! The BOA building in the middle of its own feces.

  • The last time I was in Phoenix was about 10 years ago. I remember thinking how ugly it was. Ugly strip mall after ugly strip mall in boring stucco design. No imagination in design. No pedestrians- everyone just pulled up to a store then hopped back in their car and left. The economy is not only to blame, you guys overbuilt. Even in the best of times how could you expect to keep up that much of a glut of stores?

  • Wow. Last time I was in Phx was before this abandonment, and it’s only two hours away. I feel like Rip Van Winkle!
