Images and footage from the upper deck of a c1890s Glasgow Horse Omnibus on site at Beamish. Built by Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Company, it eventually ended up in a garden in Hereford (just the saloon) where it was used as a shed for many years.

It was later bought and restored by Mike Thompson of Barnard Castle. The underworks, roof and stairs were made to exact copies of existing omnibuses in other museums, along with brand new wheels and the bus was repainted in Glasgow livery.

Today our staff took the bus out on a test run with Gelderlanders Neils (nearside) Justin (centre) and Pico (offisde). First time in three abreast formation, and first time horsing an omnibus, a first for everybody involved including the driver!
