  • Okay somthing weird is going on. Im manage to fix one think but the other stops working. The drive was jammed now i fixed. The Lens is active but i dont know if its reading i have seen it light up before i started. and it did a spin for like 2 seconds but then it stopped and now it wont spin at all. Can you help out?

  • @PeronMiles It's probably the laser that's failed. This can be the case even if the laser appears to light up. (Bad pickup, bad monitor diode, weak laser, etc.)

  • Im having a problem. When you are looking at the top of the plastic top piece of the optical drive, there is a little tab that moves up and to the right in a half moon path. It moves up there and locks out of the way when the disc goes in. Mine doesnt go all the way and lock, therefore when my disc spins, this piece is in constant contact with the disc and makes a very annoying sound. Do you know the parts that work in conjunction with this little sliding tab so I can maybe correct it? TY

  • @matthejl8 There shouldn't be anything special that you have to do beyond making sure there is no white parts blocking the two holes when you install the drive top. The parts in the top should be moved out of the way by guides in the arms on the sides. These parts should be lined up if the top is correctly installed.

  • Wow, have watched all your videos and this one was the most helpful. Cant believe that was the whole load problem. Thank you for all your help. With it I have fixed 3 PS3's so far! All family members. On one of them I broke the little socket that the black and red wires from the little feed motor plugs into. So far epoxy fixed it. If it completely breaks do I have to buy a new board?

  • @jp1wildman If you can't solder the wires directly onto the board someplace, a new board would be required, but it should hold fine with the epoxy.

  • This was a great help thank you very much

I had this problem and it would not let my Bluray

spin up as it was rubbing against the misaligned arm

    Thanks again great work

P.S. thank goodness I do not now have to buy that ugly economy PS3 slim

P.P.S. Would you know how to remarry different Bluray driver boards as my Bluray loader sensor has a broken plug and I do not like the churning sound my bluray loader makes when I turn it on because the loader sensor plug is broken .

  • Hi, my lens died some time ago and I replaced them. Soon as I entered a test br it worked perfectly (read, load, spin etc) but when I tried to fully assemble the drive again to close the ps3 the mechanism for loading and ejecting the discs did not work at all. I tried checking gears, wires, restoring system , even putting the old lens back but it's like dead. It only do some minor eject moves that's all. Do you have any idea whats happening and if I can fix it ?

  • Thanks a lot bro, just fixed my first ps3. My sister owes me money XD

  • What did you use the hammer for?
