And as we just reported, North Korea has opened up it border with its southern neighbor. But there are mixed feelings among South Koreans on the Norths latest move.
The easing of restrictions at the border follows a meeting between the head of Hyundai Group and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
Local residents on the streets of Seoul have different views about the latest developments.
[Choi Hyun-gi, Seoul Resident]:
"I think exchanges between the North and the South should be expanded. I don't think it's desirable for the government to adopt a policy limiting exchanges between the two Koreas."
Others say the fundamental problems on the peninsula will continue.
[Kim Sang-Yeop, Seoul Resident]:
"It seems like South Korea is trying to resolve just a little problem to show that the South is taking action, although there are a lot of things to build in advance, such as trust in the relationship between the two Koreas and nuclear issues."
Under the latest agreement, land passage across their heavily armed border will be resumed, allowing the normal traffic to the Kaesong factory park.
It will also allow the restart of tourism to the scenic Mt. Kumgang resort. That was brought to a halt a year ago after a North Korean soldier shot dead a South Korean tourist who wandered into a military area.
North Korea will also allow the resumption in October of the emotionally charged reunion of families separated by the 1950-53 Korean War.
@ReadyFreddie2009 it is really sad that they're separated, they are all Koreans, aren't they? people who have families went to war back in the '50, still out there, can't even get a chance to reunite with their own families.
I hope one day, this COLD WAR is going to stop between the NOrth and the South in Korea. Why don't people just open their heart and their arms a little bigger to forgive things happened in the past, and be united and happy!, not just Korean, i meant the whole world!

i have a feeling that North Korea is once again disguising themselves as if they are willing to talk in peace. Meanwhile, developing a plan to dominate Korean peninsula somewhere hidden...
