@viclagoon No - it was ACTUALLY right BEFORE Xanadu was released. Xanadu was in theaters in August of 1980. This special was sometime around May or June 1980. Back then we didnt have VCRs but i recorded the show with my tape deck (audio only) and its funny to hear how different the version of Suddenly is....

I also missed Hollywood Nights Special,wow, she was a star that every woman wanted to be, every man wanted as their girlfriend, and evry drag queen wanted to imitate her because they wanted to be her,and man she was asked by Larry King what her magic was to being so youthful looking and being voted as one of the prettiest top 50 People's Magazine back then,wow, my mom is her age and let me tell ya this girl can be youthful in her figure and face man, still now ,wow!

Then came Cyndi Lauper who paved the way for Madonna, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. These mid-late 1980s ladies dumbed pop music down through their appearances, their music, and mostly their attitudes.

Incredible! I didn't know about this special until I bought a dvd called "Disco Special" and part of this show was thrown on it. This opening is missing from my version but I love 'Gimme Some Lovin'. Thanks!
