only place ive been catching rockfish is in pacifica on rockaway beach
lots of smaller kinds caught a rare 2 pound china rockfish other day
if its low tide walk by the right side of the beach if not u gotta walk up a hill and down the hill (poison ivy is on it)

Try the rockwalls surrounding Pillar Point Harbor, that's usually the best place that I've heard, but you wont usually get a lingcod unless youre in deeper waters (which is where the boats help too). But at the moment, you can't catch any rockfish until the season opens.
Honestly, the best way to catch rockfish is truly on the boats, also it helps support the community and keeps the industry going. Can't lose either way. ;) I would defenitly suggest the Queen of Hearts!!
