Something a bit different & not dnb, but where dnb evolved from.
This is where my passion for music really started, around 1990, when I was only 12 or 13. Started getting hold of mix tapes from various raves.
There was a big illegal rave scene in my area (Blackburn), but I was too young to actually go to any.
I overheard a few from miles away going boom boom boom through the night. Some older friends would go regularly & tell me all about it.
By the time I started clubbing 3 or 4 years later, the raves had died out, but there were some great clubs & I went to many of them. Some religiously.
I've also had many DJ friends over the years & went with them to buy records. Back then, I never had the money to start my own collection.
I had hundreds of mix tapes, but they were all stolen in one go when my house got broken into. I was absolutely Gutted.
Since then I've built up an awesome collection of cd & mp3s. About 300 cd albums & 300Gb of mp3s.
I had 30 Gb of Oldskool stuff, but lost it all last year when my PC died suddenly & I couldn't get it back. Again..gutted.
yeah yeah boo hoo T.T
Anyway, I keep seeing peoples comments saying "it sounds oldschool, I like it" or words to that effect.
So I thought people would like this mix, which was originally a 5hr mix done last year.
I've spent the last few days tidying it up, as I never quite finished it.
They are 20 year old tracks, so they vary in quality & often have small glitches which make them very difficult to mix.
I started with Let me be your Fantasy, because it was the first track on my first & much loved Fantasia (Ratpack) tape.
I haven't been able to find that set again & would love to hear it again (nudge nudge;);)
It starts off commercial (slight Prodigy fest) & soon goes underground.
There are so many good tunes from that era, I could do many mixes like this. But gonna go back to new dnb tunes for the next mix.
Charly was the first tape I ever bought & played it to death, so I have a spot for it :)
Blah blah blah...
Anyway, as always..Enjoy!
Awesome :D
