In fact the Portuguese is a type U209-PN, (PN stands for Portuguese Navy). its an evolution of the U209 with the best from the 214, or viceversa. Enhanced capacities. It is presently the most advanced convencional submarine in the world. Portugal will have 2 of those, with a 3rd in option.
