CRUISING ON A JONAS BROTHERS LOVE STORY chp 29

[Sam is on the phone with Sarah]
SAM: Before I knocked on her door, Kevin opened it and said that he just dropped off one of her DVDs.
SARAH: What are you thinking?
SAM: I don't know. I don't think Sheryll would do that. Do you?
SARAH: We've been best friends since we were born, we're like sisters. Maybe he really was there to give her the DVD.
SAM: I want to believe that.
SARAH: It's probably nothing.
SAM: You're right. I'm probably just making a big deal out of nothing.
SARAH: So are we still going to sleepover tonight at Sheryll's house?
SAM: Yeah, I think so.
SARAH: I'll meet you at her house later at 6 then. I have to get to work.
SAM: Same here. See you later.
[Sam didn't think Sheryll would do anything behind her back, so she pushed those thoughts to the back of her head]

Later on that day Kevin calls Sheryll

KEVIN: Hey. How are you?
SHERYLL: I'm good. A little tanned from yesterday, but nothing bad.
KEVIN: Yeah. That was a close call with Sam.
SHERYLL: Uh huh.
KEVIN: Do you want to get some coffee? I'm kind of bored here.
[Sheryll and Kevin weren't really doing anything that friends wouldn't do together, so she saw no harm in seeing him again]
SHERYLL: Ok. Sure.
KEVIN: I'll pick you up in a few minutes?
[Sheryll could here the sound of his car in the background]
SHERYLL: Are you on your way already?
KEVIN: Well... yeah. I didn't think you'd say no.
SHERYLL: [Laughing] You're right. I'll be dressed in 5 minutes.
KEVIN: I'll be waiting for you outside your house.
[Sheryll dressed in a hurry and threw things all over her room. Ran downstairs to find that Kevin beat her to the driveway]
SHERYLL: You're fast.
KEVIN: Thanks.
SHERYLL: I hope you aren't going over the speed limit.
KEVIN: Me? Never.
[Kevin took her to a local coffee shop and he ordered them fraps]
SHERYLL: Did you know that I only learned to swim the day before we went on the cruise?
KEVIN: Really?
SHERYLL: Yeah. I used to be scared of swimming by myself.
KEVIN: What was your motivation?
SHERYLL: Simple. I didn't want to drown.
KEVIN: [Laughing] You are the...
SHERYLL: Coolest girl you've ever met?
KEVIN: Just about.
SHERYLL: So how's Nick feeling?
KEVIN: He's doing well. Sarah comes over sometimes, so that makes him feel better.
SHERYLL: Sarah does have a why with making the room brighter.
KEVIN: I talked to Sam this morning.
SHERYLL: Is she mad?
KEVIN: No, I don't think she is. We're just hanging out right?
[Sheryll nodded]
KEVIN: Sheryll, is there something between us?
[She was taken by surprise by the change in the conversation]
SHERYLL: I don't know. I feel good when I'm around you, and definitely happy.
KEVIN: I feel the same way, but...
[She knew that she and Kevin could never be, but she couldn't help but hope for something. Why did he have to be his best friend's boyfriend?]
SHERYLL: But?
KEVIN: I don't know how to break it to Sam.
SHERYLL: Wait. What?
KEVIN: I like you Sheryll. And I know it's wrong, really wrong. And that Sam is your best friend and all, but I feel a connection with you. I'm sorry, but I really had to let you know.
[Sheryll knew she should be feeling awkward: he just said he liked her. But all she felt was love. She finally found it, but there were so many important things in her way. Her best friend being number one.]
SHERYLL: I like you, too, Kevin. [She took a deep breath] This is pretty... complicated.
KEVIN: Maybe I should talk to Sam alone.
SHERYLL: No, we should do it, together.
KEVIN: Are you scared?
SHERYLL: Yes.
[Kevin took her hand and looked into her eyes]
KEVIN: Do you think I'm worth it, if you and Sam get into a fight?
[She thought over her feelings for Kevin, and how strong they were]
SHERYLL: Yes.
[Kevin pulled her into his arms]
KEVIN: Thank you.
[After a moment, they got up and he drove Sheryll home. He got out and opened the door for her, and walked her to the front door]
SHERYLL: Goodnight.
KEVIN: Goodnight.
[He leaned in and gave her a kiss. Suddenly the door opened and Sam and Sarah were looking at them. Sam's face furious]
SAM: So I guess you forgot we had plans for a sleepover at your house, huh? And you decided to go out with my boyfriend.
SHERYLL: Sam, look...
SAM: Save it for someone who wants to hear it.
[Kevin tried to stop her from leaving]
KEVIN: Sam, wait. Let us explain.
SAM: I don't need any other explanation.
[Anger had the best of her, and she had every right to be angry]
SHERYLL: Sarah.
SARAH: I should drive Sam home.
[Disappointment was visible on Sarah's face, and Sheryll felt tears burning her eyes. It all happened so fast]
KEVIN: [Sighs] That didn't go over very well.
[He walked over to Sheryll and hugged her]
SHERYLL: Sam will understand, won't she?
KEVIN: Maybe.
