Not to be a jerk, but this example would NEVER appear on the GMAT. If you use words such as "announce," "indicate," "require," "suggest," etc. on the GMAT, you must always introduce the idea with a "THAT" clause.
Correct: Interworld announced THAT its sales are poor.
Incorrect: Interworld announced its sales are poor.
A is the only choice that has the necessary "THAT"
The hardest part of sentence correction, is picking the correct horribly worded sentence. It seems like most of the harder questions force you to pick an answer that your boss or professor would most likely say, "I can't find any grammatical error in this sentence, but it just seems awkward somehow, please rewrite."
