Alec Finn playing the bouzouki. Having Greek origins, there's also an Irish bouzouki that was made popular in the 1960's. Not sure if the instrument Alec is playing is Irish or Greek, but he is known in traditional Celtic music circles for playing the Greek bouzouki.

A founding member of DeDanaan, Alec Finn has been one of Celtic music's most influential musicians. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife, Leonie, at their home, Oranmore Castle in Oranmore, Co. Galway, on a recent trip to Ireland. They graciously invited my friend and I into their home/castle and we had a wonderful time. Really a high point during the trip.
Alec states the song he's performing but I can't make it out on the video. If you recognize this tune, please email me at irc_64@hotmail.com,

  • Hi Belairjeff

Alec refers to the tune as Lady Hamilton .... The tune is actually called "Miss Hamilton" and was written circa 1706 by Corneilius Lyons a fiddle player and composer who was known to travel with the harpist Turlough O Caloran. This is the only tune of Mr. Lyons that exists today.

  • why is someone bashing two billiard balls together?

  • @belairjeff "Lady Hamilton" (or "Lady Hamilton's Delight"). It's originally a Scottish flute tune from the 1740s, "The Blossom of the Raspberry". Dots and MIDI for that on my site (search for the title and "Jack Campin old Scottish flute music".)

  • Alec wears crocs! Yet further proof he is the coolest guy ever

  • @belairjeff It's definitely a genuine Greek bouzouki, the oldest one (trichordo : three pairs of strings).

    Thanks for the vid!

  • Lovely house by the way.

  • Awesome. The best bouzouki player.
