The Mevlevi, or Mevleviye, one of the most well-known of the Sufi orders, was founded in 1273 by Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi's followers after his death. The Mevlevi, or "The Whirling Dervishes", believe in performing their dhikr in the form of a "dance" and music ceremony called the sema.
The Sema represents a mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through mind and love to "Perfect." Turning towards the truth, the follower grows through love, deserts his ego, finds the truth and arrives to the "Perfect." He then returns from this spiritual journey as a man who has reached maturity and a greater perfection, so as to love and to be of service to the whole of creation....

Basically Some Mevlana Sufi say that women have to whirl seperately away from men. This comes from a Muslim tradition, where women have to be apart from men when they pray. But then also some Mevlana Sufi say the women and men should whirl together.I also agree with this way of thinking.

When I visited this monastary there were women in coloured robes spinning together with the men,but I don't know how often this happens.

Why a woman doesn't take part in the ritual? Please explain...
I know Freemasonry does not accept woman, is this has to do with the Patriarch cycle of the Human race that is almost closing or is there a spiritual reason for it. (peace) and thank you...
