This is a tune which won Sam Magee the national fingerpickers prize in 1926, a buckdance is a type of cloggin, or stomp dancing which is typical throughout america. not to be confused with a 'backstep' which is another dance name that occurs in song titles (clinch mountain backstep for instance), where there is an extra beat between bars. enjoy!
I loved the Taj Mahal take on this tune where he gets bluesy in the turn around so I threw in the E note on G which gives it a great blue feeling, kind of suggesting the relative minor. (taking chord shapes from capo for you Jazz nuts who will troll me instantly!). I also ripped Taj's piece where he rings out the chords with the high G, that just makes it all the more beautiful
