Liverecording from the german webdeveloper podcast Technikwürze No. 173 with Peter Müller and Nina Gerling. On his guitar Peter ist playing Little Boxes in his web standards mix for web developers. Hear the full song in the comming episode on http://technikwuerze.de.
Here are the lyrics:
1.
Little boxes on a web page,
little boxes made of ticky tacky,
little boxes, little boxes,
little boxes all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
2.
And the words and all the pictures
are tagged with H-T-M-L,
and they all get put in boxes,
little boxes, all the same.
And designers they designed them
with tricks like single pixel GIFs
and with tables made of ticky tacky,
it was pretty, but what a shame.
3.
Well, the source code was a nightmare
and the content not accessible,
so a few web page designers
pushed web standards all the way,
and despite appalling browsers
they fi-nal-ly made it work,
scrapped the tables and the blind GIFs,
stylesheets are here to stay.
4.
So the content and the layout
are now completely separate,
and the words are still in boxes,
but they're now laid out with style.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all are just the same.
