772. Jesus Died (Original) - CD version

Here is my Easter video. I put this song up for Easter two years ago, but this time I decided to make a movie using the audio track from my CD, "Gospel Ship". This is my first attempt at illustrating a song with visuals.

I wrote this song many years ago when I was a member of a Christian youth group. I wasn't really happy with the tune and didn't sing it again for a long time, but I reworked it a couple of years ago for my third CD, and made a few minor changes to the lyrics to bring it up to date.

Have a Happy Easter. I will be going back to Australia for a week to visit family. I'll keep posting songs if I can, but may not have a chance to do one per day.

Lyrics:

A young man deals drugs in the ghetto
He's never yet heard the truth.
He's quick with a knife, he's a threat to your life
But Jesus died for this youth.

...Yes, my lord Jesus died, he was crucified,
...Died so the world could be free
...He lived and he showed us how we should live
...And he died on the cross for you and me.

There's a drunken old man in the gutter,
A bottle of booze by his side,
His face is all haggard and ruined by drink.
For this man Jesus died.

There's a soldier who'd wounded in battle,
Never you mind on what side.
Killing is murder, whatever you wear.
For all mankind Jesus died.

There's a poor little African baby
Crying because there's no food.
We who have plenty must see that he's fed -
Jesus died for him too.

In this life there are so many troubles.
All men are weak from the start.
Until he is loved by the whole wide world
Jesus must live in your heart.

Don't know how I wound up here Raymond but I've learned a few more things about you now - I didn't know you wrote originals, didn't know you'd made three (or more?) CDs and wasn't sure whether you were a Christian or not (you're not narrow minded but I'm guessing that the Aussie side of you doesn't want to discuss religion or politics in public:-)

This body of work of yours is quite some achievement.

Thanks, Peter. I have just reached my goal of 1001 songs on YouTube, about a hundred of which are originals. I have four CDs. As for politics, a lot of my songs are decidedly political. Thanks for your message. I hope you will check out more of my work when you have time.

White people could never except that he was not. They refuse to accept that if it's not white, it's not them...so wrong..No matter what race Jesus is, He is God. The living God. Stop creating pictures of what he would look like...I can't wait for Him to come...
