Candle Making Kit: All the Essentials
While candle making is a simple art, getting started, as with any new craft, takes some practice. Often it is hard to know where to begin, what supplies work the best, and where to find them. Candle making kits solve all of these beginner types of problems. These kits contain all of the ingredients needed to make beautiful candles to keep, give away, or even sell!
Types of Wax
The only real decisions that a beginner candle maker will need to make when buying a candle making kit are what kind of wax he wants to use and what type of candle he wants to make. The two types of wax that are usually provided in the kits are paraffin or soy. Paraffin wax is the most commonly found and used by candle makers. However, how to make soy candles becoming more popular because soy wax is all natural, so it burns more cleanly and is better for the environment.
Votive Kits
Once that decision is made, the candle maker will have to decide what type of candle she wants to make. Candle making kits usually do not provide supplies for dipping candles, which is a more advanced process. They usually give two choices: votive candles or container candles.
molds needed to form the votive candles
The votive candle making kits usually contain the molds needed to form the votive candles, candle wax, and wicks. Some kits also provide candle dyes and fragrance oils so that the beginning candle maker can be creative right from the start. More advanced kits usually provide additional dyes and fragrances, as well as wick pins for more creativity.
Container Kits
The container candle making kits contain many of the same supplies as the votive candle making kits. They usually contain the candle wax, the candle glassware containers, and candle wicks. Certain kits will also supply dyes and fragrances for additional creativity. These kits usually make approximately ten, eight ounce candles, which is a nice amount for presents around the holidays.
money is well spent
Both types of candle making kits usually run about fifty to eighty dollars, depending on the complexity of the kit. The money is well spent for a beginning candle maker since much more than that can be accidentally spent on supplies that are later found to not be needed. In addition, the kits always include detailed sets of instructions and tips so that the beginning candle maker starts out with a lot of help from the experts, teaching them the ropes before they venture out on their own.
