Erica & Tevonda: New Jersey Marriage

Meet Erica and Tevonda, plaintiffs in Lambda Legal's marriage equality lawsuit in New Jersey. Together 4 years, Erica and Tevonda are raising their 3-month old son, Teverico, in North Plainfield and were forced to get a second-parent adoption to ensure legal protection of their son because of civil unions' unequal status. This pisses me off that they won't give them the baby to a loving couple simply cause of sexual orientation status! Long ago, our societies raised their children in a matriarchy where primarily a village of womyn and children raise the kids. How the hell did we get from having the community - as it should be - taking care of the family to having this selfish arrangement where only a womyn and a man in marriage can raise a child in the context of a nuclear family?

@Realbigsource It's not confusing. If they didn't adopt, they probably used a sperm donor to get pregnant. Either way, both women are the moms of the baby.

Congrats to the both of you , you have a beautiful family. My wife and I also have 2 great kids that we are raising. One is 14 yrs old and the other is 22 months and he was planned and it's great, we are now planning to have another one in the next 2 year.
