  • @xXLoVeRandHaTeRXx Nitromethane is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3NO2. It is the simplest organic nitro compound. It is a slightly viscous, highly polar liquid commonly used as a solvent in a variety of industrial applications such as in extractions, as a reaction medium, and as a cleaning solvent. As an intermediate in organic synthesis, it is used widely in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, explosives, fibers, and coatings.

  • @pomposo11 .... and it cleans bank accounts too ....

  • Is that Mark Oswald sitting in that sling-shot dragster?..Just curioused.

  • @grumpypant Great question, but no, Thats one of the owners of the car, Paul Rossi..

  • burnin nitro is a expensive affair as being 1 to 1 air fuel mix at 30 odd dollars a gallon soon will empty a bank account

  • I don't know where Plymouth was with this car but I do know for a fact that engine is a 1st generation 392 CHRYSLER Hemi. Ive owned and ran them. Note where the ignition is.

  • V-TEC!!! pfft.

  • I want a nitro engine in my truck. If only it were legal.....

  • Way cool! Although sitting on top the ring and pinnion makes me nervious.

  • And then, sometime in early 1965, Baney made a deal with Scott to run their new (worthless piece of shit) low-profile bug-catcher injectors. What really pissed me off was Lou's decision to strap on the Scott system, for the first time, during a Match Race, at Lions, with The Snake. I KNEW those of us pulling for the Yeakel car were screwed, and I was right. The motor went "south" all night long with the Scott system on top of the GMC 6-71 and we never won a race that night.

  • The Yeakel Plymouth Special was my favorite top fuel car in late 1964 and into 1965. That's when Tom McEwen (Mongoose) was driving, Lou Baney was running the deal and John Garrison was turning the wrench. This car may be equipment correct for the beginning but when McEwen was setting top speed records at Lions during late '64 and into 1965 (214.00 was the best I remember) they were not running the Hilborne injectors but the 3-hole Enderle bug-catcher injectors.

  • @murphy91 I think his point is that it is awesome!

  • That's one V8 ricers won't talk shit about!
