Sean Folsom put this set of Pipes together, to represent the kind of Pipes played in Ireland during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It's really a Scottish Pipe, with only 2 Drones (1 Tenor and 1 Bass). It was inspired by one extant Medieval Illustration.

He has an unmatched collection of instruments, a talented performer and Multi-Instrumentalist. This is the first and only Irish Highland Pipe I have heard of or seen. This is the norm for Sean.
Recorded Easter Sunday. 2009, Carmel Valley, CA

  • So, did you just modify a GHB set and plug up the inside tenor drone hole? How do the reeds differ from GHB reeds, or how do you get that more aggressive, almost a roar out of them? I like the sound of these Irish Highland Pipes. In traditional Irish piping literature and instruction, is this the instrument they refer to as "Warpipes", then? Very nicely done!

  • my granda used to play them in WWII, He used to march in front of his regiment.
