1991 Ryder Cup, Final Hole - Bernhard Langer vs. Hale Irwin

Probably the most famous and intense Ryder Cup, the "War by the Shore" at Kiawah Island in South Carolina. Bernard Langer needed to win the 18th hole to earn a full point against Hale Irwin, and retain the Ryder Cup for Europe via a 14-14 tie.

Mark Calcavecchia blew a 4 up lead on Colin Montgomerie with 4 holes to play, settling for a half. That prompted the focus on Calcavecchia.

Langer would have made that putt 10/10 in practice but put that amount of pressure on any human being and anything can happen, thats what makes top level sport so good to watch.

really 20 years ago! Wow, remember watcjing this late on as a lad.....gutted for Langer. But look how young they all look esp Mark Calc, and you forget about the great late Payne Stewart........I remember the grudge matach between Seve & Ole against Azinger & Beck!

Is he using a conventional putting grip on the long putt, then changing to a right hand grabs the left forearm grip on the 5 footer? Had he had the long putter here, he would have made it.
