1994-1995 Pittsburgh Penguins "A Season To Celebrate" (Part 1 of 3)

"A Season To Celebrate" is the story of the 1994-1995 Pittsburgh Penguins. Playing without Mario Lemieux and Tom Barrasso, the Pens were not expected to be the same elite team they had been in previous years. But the team finished the lockout-shortened season with the third best record in the league. They were led by the Art Ross trophy winner, Jaromir Jagr and Lady Byng winner and acting team captain, Ron Francis. Ken Wregget led the NHL with 25 wins also setting his own personal career high total. New acquisition Luc Robitaille scored his 400th goal and Joey Mullen registered his 1000th career point during the season.

The Pens beat the Washington Capitals in an exciting seven game series. The Pens were down three games to one but rallied to defeat the Caps. They won game five 6-5 in overtime and clinched the series with a 3-0 shutout victory in game seven. Unfortunately, the team lost to the eventual cup champion New Jersey Devils in a quick five game series.

Great video, thanks for the memories. I still remember the Whalers were the first team to knock off the Pens after the 13 game streak to open up the season. Gotta love the hall of fame group hug at 7:14 - Jagr, Robitaille, and Francis, and Murphy also out there.
