From the first days of the uprising in Syria the government has used brutal tactics to crush its opponents. We hear the gruelling accounts of young Syrians facing bullets on the streets to fight for freedom.

On March 15, 2011 the unthinkable happened: the Syrian people rose up. It was an unprecedented challenge to the Assad family's 41-year dictatorship and it was led by young people. "Activists in Syria doing their daily job is like Russian roulette. They can't sleep in the same bed twice", says Wissam Tarif, director of human rights organisation, Insan. Three young activists, Diaa, Omar and Michel, all in their 20s,reveal how they operate within the police state and explain the dire consequences of being detained in a country where torture is rampant."We have to film everything for media because we are alone inside". Despite the Arab uprisings providing a spark, the desire to change Syria had been growing for a long time. "The feeling I get every time we chant and we are faced with bullets is that we are starting to gain victory."

I didnt say Assad have not done wrong in the beginning but right now there are almost more Military death than so called civilians .

Right now the rebels are blowing up gas pips who belong to the ppl of Syria bombing police stations killing civilians like in Pakestan Afghanistan Iraq .Those who do things like that are NOT Muslims.they are Wahabi Salafi supported by Saudi Qatar Turkey UAE US UK Israel France and shame on them.Assad must stay or worst things will come thats for sure

  • @Ninoortah

You think there aren't thousands of conspiracy theories in the Middle East ? Read a book on the last 150 years of Middle East history and have a good read.

  • @jasonthemankiller

Some of them are Syrian military. A lot of the dead are Military, and defectors. But you can't deny the tanks firing into civilian areas are Syrian military, because no armored divisions have defected yet.
