The fact that it's so overdone is what makes it funny! Humor is a good way to bring real issues to our attention in a way that doesn't make them seem so threatening. My dad has has young onset PD for ten years, and he found this amusing. Humor isn't supposed to always be comfortable, but it should remind us that we can relate to one another, which is what makes this joke successful.
