  • @topheramazz Well, they really don't understand the biochemistry, so they stick with a very simple plan - calorie in calorie out. In reality, one must eat less to lose weight, and one cannot do that if you are on a high carb roller coaster. Keep your blood sugar more level, you will simply eat less. I';ve lost 100 pounds on a reasonable LC diet, coupled with a bit more walking and biking. But I still have a bacon, my eggs my cheese, every morning. BP 120/63 A1C 5.1% Cholesterol 152.

  • @sumbarine And Japanese people walk more than ride cars. Also, Japanese women tend to eat very restricted diets - 1000 to 1500 calories a day. But the Japanese have taken to western food, and now are experiencing the same diseases American experience. Diabetes is in the rise, as is heart disease and obesity.

  • The HUGE difference in these diet approaches is insulin. Domesticated grains like wheat and rice are carb rich as are other simple carbs like sugar. This invokes the production of insulin to get the blood sugar level down. If one abuses their carb intake and consumes too many, your endocrine system overshoots, too much insulin, and you end up with low blood sugar, which makes you terrifically hungry. Roller coaster. LC diets keep the blood sugar level more even over a much longer time.

  • @topheramazz Your Brain runs on sugar & your body prefers carbs to run the body for energy.Japan has hi carb diet but less than 3 % obesity. In USA in 50s & 60s,moms made apple pies,we ate white toast & cereal, drank cokes, ate fries but we moved more.More jobs were of manual labour as opposed to sitting in front of desk, kids played/moved more--no dvds, video games,200 channels.Calories in vs calories out.Your body can & will convert any protein to fat if in the end theres excess calories.Simple

  • my god you guys you all know so much don't you!! Look bottom line, Burn more calories then you take in, = fat loss period! forget carbs, high protein which yes these guys don't deny that you can lose weight that way when the body enters ketosis, ect, But that is not a healthy diet and no one can deny that. This is an easy proven system that works for the long haul.

  • @MoveFX

biochemestry shows that the secretion of hormone insulin in excess(due to carbohydrates) will store more cals in adiposites, while only about 50-60% of protein and only 10% of fat will. The liver converts protein and some fat for glucose via gluconeogenesis so no carb need be in the diet(although veggies are good for you).the body/ BRAIN run more effientally on ketones.I can't beleive the healt/fitness dictocrats are still propagating this calorie in calorie ou crap in 2010!

    Epic Fail!

  • Carbs cause a lot of water weight to be held. You lost 10lb of weight - much of that would be water and much less of that would be body fat. Test it if you like: weigh a lettuce (around 40 calories) and a Brazil nut (around 40 calories) - which would make you weigh more if you ate it?

  • Eating no carb puts you in ketosis which then causes you to burn calories faster. I don't believe this one, I did Atkins for 6 days and lost 10 lbs.

Although eating no carbs mean I didn't eat any cakes, ice cream, chocolet etc. But trust me the no carb helped. I was on a 500 cal eat anything diet and I burned more on Atkins.
