This was made to be used in a review I made on this French site here: http://www.geekmodeblog.com/2009/01/et-extra-terrestrial-atari-2600.html#complet I beat the game on the hardest difficulty, the one with the two bad guys, which is the default difficulty when you start the game anyway (note that this is not a very long game). This game is often reported as being the worst game on the Atari 2600 or even the worst video game ever, but here's a different opinion: http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-et.html While it's bad in my opinion and the general opinion, I don't think it's the worst game ever since a lot of video games are at least as bad as this or worse (just check Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, it's barely playable and it's from 2003). Perhaps people remember this as the worst game because there were expectations for it (also meaning that a lot of copies of this game were produced) and also because Atari buried most cartridges in a New Mexico desert landfill. There is also the fact that the game came around the same time as the North American video game crash of 1983 (E.T. came out in 1982), people often citing this game as the cause of it. While not being the worst game, E.T. can be a frustrating and dull experience, but I hear there are fans of this game. I'll say that if I had played this as a child, I might have enjoyed it a bit. If you wonder what are the changing symbols at the top, they're not directions. When you extend your head, each symbol has a different effect. The arrows teleport you one screen in the direction they point. The thing that looks like this "III" is to send the bad guys home. The one that looks like someone shouting is to call Eliott and give him your accumulated Reese's pieces for bonus points at the end (you can hold 9 of them at a time). The circle with a point in it is to eat a Reese's piece to restore your energy (which slowly drains away at each step you take or when levitating out of the wells which everybody call pits, it can be hard to get out of those, but you get used to it). The object of the game is to get the three phone pieces which are scattered randomly in the wells. To know in which well they are, you search for the question mark symbol which will point them out for you. When you have all pieces, just search for the Space Invaders look-alike symbol and extend your head, it only works if there's nobody around. Then a timer starts after which point you go to the forest and search for the landing zone. Then you need to wait for your ride at the end of the timer, there must be no one around when the timer ends, or you'd need to call again. Speaking of calling, one of the bad guys (the one in yellow-brown) steals your phone pieces and randomly puts them back in the wells, one at a time, each time he touches you. The other guy puts you in a cage (only a minor annoyance since you can get out and resume your search as soon as he does it). The other difficulties remove the white enemy and eventually all enemies at the easiest difficulty. If you haven't already done so, watch the SpoonyOne's review of this game on his website here: http://www.spoonyexperiment.com/2007/02/18/et-atari-2600-review/ It's a special review that he did on pain medicine. After the intro, he tries to play through the game and the experience he goes through is pretty similar to the one I lived before successfully beating the game. Don't forget, if you have requests like for another video game walkthrough or something, just ask here or on my channel or even by sending me a message and if I can make it, there are good chances that I will.

  • Didn't this win GOTY back when it was released?

  • @iliveyou123 I don't think so, but then again every movie I pick on DVD or Blu-Ray, no matter how bad it is, has good reviews on the cover, so maybe it's the same for games.

  • DAMMIT JAMES ROLF HAS KEPT ME WAITING LONG ENOUGH!

  • @Nbpwner1 I don't know if he'll even show it in the AVGN movie. There isn't much going on in this game and it's very short if you know what you're doing, so maybe he doesn't know what to say about it.

  • @DarkEvil87 well i mean yea it is short, but rumor said that he was going to put it in the AVGN movie at some point. 1 more quesiton though, is this you who was playing this?

  • @Nbpwner1 Yeah, I'm the one playing what you see in the video.

  • Still better then MW3

  • @EastCoastDude99 Exactly. I hate hearing people say that it is, especially when they have never played it before. I enjoyed this game as a kid, partially due to the fact that it's one of the few Atari games that could be beaten... rather quickly, too.

  • This isn't the "worst game ever". I guess thats just popular gaming culture to say so. Yes it does suck, but theres plenty of games even on the NES that are bigger shit piles of fuck then this.

  • @Seppokarhu300 nope, black ops is better than mw3

  • @DarkEvil87 He just announced that he'll be reviewing it in the AVGN movie. You should check out his website for more details.

  • Wack !

  • wow...just...wow

  • @DarkEvil87 funny, youu must really know what you're doing

  • This guys got balls. He did what AVGN coudnt do.
