This video shows you a few other homemade solutions I use in my craft room. I show you my homemade glimmer mist (inspired by scrapeahappy's video: "Let's Get Crafty DIY Glimmer Mist #19"), homemade blending solution (inspired by ThePaperBoutique's video: "Make your own Alcohol Ink Blending Solution") and DIY felt for using with the ink blending tool for alcohol inks (I came up with this one on my own while making my blending tools and later noticed many others had the same idea). I hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching. Check out my channel for other homemade money $aving creations! :-)

  • I forgot to fix my typo at the end of the first line and I'm technically challenged; can't seem to delete it, sorry. Will ask the question having to do with the two different types of alcohol and the faux blending solution for alcohol inks. I heard Ethyl 70% mentioned and rubbing alcohol. Is Isopropyl good for both applications too?

  • @stampedinhisimage1 continued from previous response: ...you could try different types of alcohol out and see which you like best. OR just buy the blending solution hahahaha...what ever ends up being cheaper lol! Good luck...have fun. TFW Hugs Leanne :-)

  • I love your videos and want to save mfo==]]]]

Thanks for the money saving tips, I really need them. I was wondering the difference between using the foam blender and the felt one. I'm going to be making some and wondered should I put foam on one side of my block and felt on the other? Are they used on different type of inks? Do you know if both Ethyl and Isopropyl 70% alcohol can be used or just the Ethyl in the bottle rather than water to cut down the wrinkle to the papers?

  • @stampedinhisimage1 Hey there...as for the foam and felt...the felt is used for alcohol inks and the foam is used for mainly blending/distressing with distress inks. The foam could also be used with pigment & chalk inks. You can interchange the foam or felt on your blending tool...or designate one tool for just alcohol inks (which is what I do b/c it's so messy lol). As for the alcohol...I'm not sure on the types...I just bought rubbing alcohol and tried it out...

  • Ok that would definetley explain it. I used it on a lesser quality cardstock as practice so I didnt ruin my expensive cardstock if I messed up. I also let it air dry so I'm not sure if that would have made a difference than using a heat gun. Thanks for the tip on the lb of cardstock. Do you happen to know the name and brand of cardstock that is I'm totally going to get some tomorrow!!! I wish I lived or Canada or you lived here lol you make such wonderful creations I could surely learn from you!

  • @madbunnyz I would definitely heat set it...otherwise it will stay a bit curled. The name of the watercolour paper I use is: Acquarello Watercolour (Watercolour Studio - Cold Pressed 140lb), but any heavy watercolour paper works. The one I got came in a paper pad and you just pull out the paper along the perforated line. The size is 5 1/3" x 8 1/4" but I'm sure they come in much larger pads. You'll probably find it in the "art/painting" section of a craft store :-) Good luck ~ Leanne :-)

  • i have really wanting to make some home made glimmer spray like these. im glad i found this video. do you think it would be ok to use watercolor paint instead of acrylic?

  • Hi your video is great. Have you been able to make alcohol ink yet?? I followed another you tube and bought rubbing alcohol and mixed it with intense dyes but it didn't act the same as adirondack ones. It certainly didn't dry fast although it did dry under heat. But would like a better method and you seem to be the girl to do it. Will definately subscribe.

    thankyou
