I've got a soft spot for El Pea as it was one of the first records i ever bought along with Bumpers, another great island collection. It was long since 'pinched' by my brother though. I thought i'd try and recreate it using wiki, youtube and spotify and with a couple of exceptions, i did. Ain't t'internet wonderful. Side 2 was my favourite. Lights off, close your eyes and you don't need to smoke anything to chill out-until you are rudely awakened by the last track (Mountain).btw spotify has

some great recent island compilations. El pea gets mentioned quite a few times in different comments. Nick Drake and elp fantastic. Apparently keith emerson was 65 a few days ago. Where has the time gone. Who's that hooded bloke with the sythe on the horizon coming towards me :) Thanks for posting this. I love sandy denny and the picture of her with john peel is very poignant. Cheers mate.

Definitively Not the El Pea version - unless there were different 'pressings' of that fine sampler. I've listened to it regularly for 39 years. The exact same guitar solo tho' [strangely.....]. The Bronco track 'Sudden Street' is different too. How odd.

Although I love Sandy and this tune, this is not the El Pea version. But it doesn't really matter. Great photos on this vid. Never seen them

@biotonk You are right - and wrong - there are three versions of this song. The Northstar album version - the original El Pea version - and a remixed, 2nd issue, El Pea version.
But whatever, I'm sure that we can agree that it's a cracking song.

I have to agree with ebneter ... This is not the "El Pea" version. I listened to that song so much that I wore it out. I know it is not the same version.
@SteveKellysVideos I've got four versions. (1) El Pea version (with a different vocal from NSG&TR), (2) Joe Boyd Mix (a punchier mix/ better sound with different vocal but with verse 3 of El Pea vocal dropped in after the instrumental), (3) The Northsea Gasman vocal version with extra guitar in the instrumental and (4) the Fotheringay 2 version which is a bit longer and has a count in.Whatta song!

@Lanarker Thank you so much for outlining the differing versions of Late November - there has been much debate about this in earlier comments here.
And as you say 'Whatta song' !

Exactly.
Yes, there are different pressings of El Pea.
With different mixes of certain tracks on the various pressings.

Thanks man.
I love this song so much.
I spent ages putting the video together - trying to find as many images of Sandy as I could.
For the record:
I bought El Pea on the day of release in 1971 in the UK.
This is a vinyl rip from that record.
The version of El Pea subsequently released in the U.S., Canada etc - and on later pressings in the UK - differed from the original UK version.
There are three released versions of the track.
