Btrfs ("Butter FS") is a new copy on write filesystem for Linux aimed at implementing advanced features while focusing on fault tolerance, repair and easy administration. Initially developed by Oracle, Btrfs is licensed under the GPL and open for contribution from anyone.

  • vcool.. was looking for a new distro to mess about with.. think i found one! Love the idea of file\block lvl RAID implementation

  • This is a great filesystem! Linux really badly needs a competitor to ZFS, as Linux filesystems always have lagged behind, google on "Linux File Systems: Ready for the Future?", to see what is wrong. Hopefully, BtrFS will be able to compete with ZFS
