Van Allen is actually between the Earth and the Moon. And, none of the alloys or composites on the capsule could have saved the astronuts through the Van Allen. They would have died from cancer.

thx for reply, but this only confirms me your ignorance to the subject. indeed first of all there is the van allen radiation belt. This belt is impossible to be penetrated by man using the equipment they had in 1969. Even today nasa sais its nearly impossible. And believe me if you go further in to space there will also be radiation. And as the moon doesnt have an atmosphere it would be impossible to shoot film there. Same counts for earth, no atmosphere would mean we all boil from radiation.

Where'd you come up with that? The radiation you speak of is in the Van Allen radiation belts above earth's atmosphere. The moon is about 10x higher than that. The amount of ionizing radiation on the Moon's surface is not excessive and would not fog film. Heat on the daytime moon surface would have been a bigger problem, except for no atmosphere, so the heat is not transferred to the film unless the camera is in direct physical contact with the lunar surface, which it never was.

thank stanley kubric for making this awsome footage. haha but this is no real moonlanding footage. its nearly impossible to film over there because of the radiation in space. For sure not 40 years ago
