  • Thank you. Love 1980s gymnasts, esp. Shaposh. Would love to see Agapova's 78 Worlds Floor Ex.

  • My pleasure! im sorry i do not have Agapova's floor ex or i would upload it for you

  • Again, love it. Thanks! This is so much more fun than watching today's competitions, although they're also great gymnasts. But this is so cool.

  • Thanks to youtube, we get to see the audience boo a Nadia score... I never had heard that. And, you get to truly compare gymnasts. I love watching vintage gymnastics on Youtube!

  • Johnson was just beautiful. Maybe she should quit her broadcasting job and start teaching dance to the National Team!

  • This was the crowd they needed in Sydney when they set the vault at the wrong height. That would have been fun to watch.

  • She's such an icon, but she had a hard time of it in the mid-late '70s. Growth spurt, very natural weight gain that still messed with her gymnastics, plus international celebrity where everyone felt it completely acceptable to comment on her weight. I remember seeing an article where she was out with some friends of hers (in NYC, I think) and some reporter just barged up! At 15! She (very nicely) told him none of your business. But just imagine!

  • It's definitely shocking though--the judges actually responding to the crowd. Poor Nadia, though. I'm happy for Kathy, a beautiful gymnast, but it's weird listening to the commentary, they seem a little too invested in Nadia's "fall from grace."

  • Poor Nadia and that floor routine. Yuck!

  • Why did she have only 5 weeks to prepare?

  • Beating the legendary Nadia Comaneci is something she'll remember for the rest of her life!

  • They raised it because it was so obvious that the only reason Comaneci outscored her was because of Comaneci's reputation. The crowd recognized good gymnastics - Kathy had it in this competition, Nadia didn't.

  • It was shocking to see such a poor quality floor exercise from Nadia, but remember, she had about five weeks to prepare for this competition. In those five weeks, she had to lose 40 pounds, learn new routines, and practice those routines.

I think that Geza probably had to throw this routine together in about an hour, given the time constraints.
