My Little Welsh Home composed by W. S. Gwynn Williams
Ivor Lewis Emmanuel (7 November 1927 -- 20 July 2007) was a Welsh musical theatre and television singer and actor. He led the rendition of "Men of Harlech" in the 1964 film Zulu.
During the last war, Ivor's home near to Port Talbot was bombed, and I believe both his parents, his sister and grandfather were killed. Ivor and his brother were pulled from the rubble of the home.
What a fabulous voice -- "nothing to compare with a love that once was there, that lonely little homestead on the hill" ... this music reaches my soul.
Lovely to hear him again. He used to live near us at Welling, Kent in early 1960s and would sing in the bathroom of.his flat above a shop in the High Street.. His voice reached out to all around and was enjoyed by us very much. Sian and Simon played with our three children in our garden. Happy days.
