Approximately 1000 birders participated in the event, including attendees, volunteers, vendors, and expert birding guides.

Midwest Birding Symposium '11 marked the grand opening of the Lake Erie Birding Trail, a guide to 84 birding locations across northern Ohio, and the kick-off for the Carbon Offset Birding Project, benefitting Meadowbrook Marsh.
