Just a brief snippet of the 10PM newscast, a day after the outbreak of tornadoes that struck the area, the largest of which occurred in the Channelview area.
I just remember it happening in the spring of 1992 because my sister was a senior at Klein Forest High School and my son was about to turn 3yo. the following month. I was home alone with him. I remember it was early morning. I was staying the night at my mom's because my husband was in the Marines at boot camp. I woke up to loud banging and noticed that it was very dark for 8 a.m. It took out our back gate and a tree in the back yard.
I was 11 and still remember this day vividly. We had family in from NJ and they were astonished by how severe our weather could get here. My football team was also in the Cy-Fair Sports Association superbowl which was scheduled that same day at Pridgeon Stadium, but ended up getting postponed bc of this.
wow...i still remember this like it was yesterday...i lived by the water tower in channelview on Holbeck ln. and i remember coming home from school sitting on the couch then it happened like a flash...the power of tornadoes is amazing but i wouldnt want to experience that again
wow, I have to put the home made video that my wife has of the aftermath. She was here in Channelview with it happened. The house was damaged, but not destroy like the block behind us.
this is so crazy. i wasnt born until 9 months after this, but i currently live in channelview where the tornado hit. its crazy to me that somethin like this happened right where i live.
