This was the first LP I ever, ever bought. Remember it like it was yesterday, it was on 8/8/62 in San Fernando, CA at Bob's record store. It cost me $3.98 and with tax $4.14 (tax in CA was 4% in 1962). I was 13 years old. Still have it of course. There is no way anybody can't stay still listening to this classic. Oh, and Rover TCB, you uploaded this song on my birthday, Jan, 29th. Ernie never really made it big as a singer but oh what a talent when you consider the great songs he wrote.

It took a while to find this one. My favorite from '62. I was 8yrs. old, loved the song. Played it on my little player so ;many times I got spanked. I still have a limp from the spanking. (just kidding). This was truly my first rock-n-roll song. It kicks ass!

"Well Mary's in the corner and she's DOING THE TWIST!!!!"

It's literally impossible not to move your body around when this is playing. What a great record. If this doesn't get you moving, you're beyond help. A truly joyful groove.

He was a great writer, but for those who think he didn't get a fair shake, he actually was a rather weak vocalist! Even in this record he only sings a few lines... when he was offered a contract with Seville, his words were to the effect of "am I supposed to sing?" but as we can see, he was able to overcome his talent deficit by writing and producing a hit anyway!
