@MegaBearslayer i believe leverage plays a part in the ease of the spring letting go mate,ie the lower the mouse touches the trap the better chance of the trigger slipping

That is actually a paiute trap. The figure 4 doesn't use cordage.

use a bucket trap but just dont add water to the bottom so they dont drown
