Here Sondheim.... the COMPOSER.... completely triumphs. Beautiful as the words are, it's the melody and harmony, and the way they so completely express Sondheim's own profound understanding of Seurat's accomplishment that are so moving and altogether successful in expressing what even the most wonderful words could not.

I vacationed to Paris last year; the noise of the city stops when you set foot onto this island. In fact, a number of dogs tried to play with me as I walked the sidewalks. Unforgettable.
