Do you know what? This has been on my mind for about 2 weeks now, that I need to make an apple tree update. It's been raining cats and dogs here, but as soon as the weather clears, I'll go out a shoot an update video for you. Thanks for asking and congratulations on the leap! You're going to be so glad you did it.

I wanted to come back and tell you, Thank You for mentioning Ruth Stout's book! I got it, and couldn't put it down. She's a hoot to read. I'm going to buy her old books, If I can find more. I'm also using her method this year, along with the Back to Eden mixed in. It's going to take some time to use it, cause it's going on our "other" property, and it's all new, but by this fall I should be able to do a few small things in it. FIRST will be Espalier items, going to test things. Thanks again!

I have the back to eden video saved on my computer I keep going back to it wanting to jump the screen to get his veggies! They look so good!! How long have you been using this method in the garden? I have been looking into starting this for my garden! I was thinking for the long hours that I put in at work this method would save me a lot of time. Great video!

We always mulched as much as possible and used lots of compost and organic matter, however, this is there first year that we covered EVERYTHING with a thick layer of bark mulch. I think it's going to save us a lot of time too.

Yep, I watched one of her videos, and I plan on watching all of them when I can. I also purchased another of her books, and it's fantastic, and more detailed than the other one. It's called The Ruth Stout No-Work Garden Book by Rodale Press in 1971. I can't put this one down either. Some of it is the same, but better, I think you would like it.
I also decided to use grow bags to start my grapes so that I can plant them in the fall. It may work, we will see. Bless, Sheila

Hi--Some types of fruit trees are self-pollinating or can even be pollinated by a fruit tree of a different kind--like peaches and pluots, etc. It depends on when they bloom, etc. Lots of fruit tree suppliers on the net have detailed info--even to the point of listing exactly what choices of their stock go best together. You should watch some of the High Density fruit tree videos--they prune the trunk down to knee height (talk about extreme) so the branches are within reach without a ladder.

The only time I've seen espaliered apple trees in person was on a history trip to Mount Vernon a few years ago. George had them in his garden, too!

Look at all of those beautiful buds on your apple trees! And all the strawberries below them! There is an awesome YTV by DaveWilsonTrees titled High Density Landscape. It is a mature yard with expaliered trees of all kinds of fruits. I can't wait for mine to bear fruit, too, but our asparagus is just going in this year. Thanks, kindred spirit. Keep the great topics and good info coming.
