Scottish Television Junction Monday December 28th 1992 & ITV Weather With Sian Lloyd

Junction recorded between the film 'Flash Gordon' which had taken a break for the ITN News. After the weather promos for Nicam Stereo and the new breakfast television service GMTV which was about to take over from TVAM.

Promos for the upcoming Scottish TV programmes that evening lead us into the festive ident and a link back into the film.

Continuity back to the film provided by Thames for the ITV Network I guess but I'm sure someone can confirm.

Yep, Philip Elsmore for Thames announcing.

I think it was usually the case that whoever was on duty at Thames/Carlton/LWT would back announce films interrupted by ITN for the network.

Nicam digital stereo was generally excellent for quality and with a clarity of tv sound with a wider soundfield and good sonic directionality that nothing else could ever match.

It must have been a strange time for Philip - the last week of what had been his life for 24 years (longer if you count ABC), and you can sort of sense that ruefulness from his tone of voice.

Bruce Hammal, the main v/o on Thames-produced networked promos in their final years, voices the Nicam promo.
