  • I hate when Goth is confused with "emo".

    It gets veryyy annoying...

  • You're cute. (:

  • the only post i've seen worth reading is that of ceke72. one must realize that not everyone who appreciates original gothic literature and design or the modernized umbrella term 'goth' dresses ad rem to the stereotype of modern scene standards or listens to 'goth' music. i feel that to 'be goth' today all it requires is an appreciation for any interest that qualitatively reflects either the modern or historical gothic realm. if we outcasts truly despise judgemental ppl, why do it to each other?

  • @gorbagthrash There are too many people who think their so "kvlt" they've lost their own meanings. Black Metal is sucking now just as much as Death Metal. The 90's was the best. I'm not going to lie, I can act like an elitist sometimes too but I try not to be an asshole. I think that Gothic Metal is a weak genre because it is neither very Metal or very Gothic and usually sounds like shit. Goth is strong and Metal are strong as separate entities usually.

  • @metaldorksforever666 i wont lie. im elitist as fuck. but im not soooooooo one sided. i listen to all sorts of music. it just so happens i think goth is a very weak metal genre. by the way black metal isnt sucking now. cascadian black metal bands are the best thing to happen to bm in 20 years.

  • What are some stereotypes, misconceptions, about the gothic sub-culture? I'm trying to understand the sub-culture. and not be just another judgemental person. Any info at all would be helpful.

  • I remember when I was 12 everyone would pick on me for being a "baby bat" they said it was a phase and shit like that. But ever since I can remember I have loved darker things and also had somewhat of a preoccupation with death (cliche, I know). I still do and I don't see it ever going away... Phase my ass! I'm 17 and I have was meant to be goth since I was born. :)

  • I'm sure someone has already pointed this out, but the term 'Goth' actually comes from Andi Sexgang (Sexgang Children), kind of by way of Siouxsie & the Banshees. Siouxsie once described the musical direction of an album as 'Gothic', Andi Sexgang was a Banshees fan, & very flamboyant so people like Ian Astbury started calling him 'The Gothic Goblin' & 'Count Visogoth', and the fans of Sexgang Children became 'Goths'. It was a joke term at first, that ended up catching on.

  • @gorbagthrash And unless you plan on growing up, it is you who needs to do the fucking of and dying.

  • @gorbagthrash Black metal has so much more than hate. I can see you're rather narrow minded. I suppose you think you're so grim and kvlt right? Stop acting like a kid and grow a pair. It's people like you who are the reason black metal is sucking now. You can't keep it true, or have respect. Black metal is everything, black metal is anything you want it to be not just hate. Don't be so one-sided. It has so much beauty to it, so much you must be blind to. Try symphonic.
