I think office space is essential, folk and towns need some local employment; otherwise there is a danger the town becomes a dormitory and the average age becomes very high.

Everything seems to be on a human scale, a little bereft of people, perhaps. How about some public transport? Also – leave room in your plans for bicycles, please. Any chance of an allotment? Bikes and allotments are both environmentally and community friendly . . . plus a good way to keep fit!

Some parts are very pretty but where are the shops? And the ideologies behind places like these can be better then the result. A fair bit of it just looked like an attractive little village

@tudorhomes dont it is awfull and there is so much wrong with it. the eco mentalists have got their hands on it and for anyone owning a car it is a nightmare and ends up with communities with cars all over the street as they dont have driveways and and their grarages are to small to encourage usage... again somthing the eco warriers in urban planning have caused to move people to public transport, when outside london public transport is appauling!
-
i know this is all about new urbanism and sustainabile coummunities, yet this place is awful and there is no way i would want to live there. first it is to dense, not enough space and secondly and most importantly the transport planning and traffic management is apaulling. cars parked on the street everywhere. to all the eco-warriors and greens out there. public transport in the uk is apauling outside london and cars are essential and NEED to be incorporated into the planning process!!!!!

@77bristol my parents have a place in phase one of the development and i think their house was built in 1997. Poundbury`s nice, they`re very happy there.
NIce video! What's the music you used for it? And do housing prices mean that it is mainly for the better off or did you manage to include a reasonable proportion of social housing in the project?

Yes, Social Housing does make up a part of the development, and the good thing about it is that its totally mixed.

I do wish I had cleaned the windscreen of the car before doing this video :)

Sorry the video is not up to the normal quality :(
Due to it being over 22 minutes long it had to be condensed down to be allowed on to youtube.
