It's not your fault some stranger is out of control; you have no way to know who they are or what they are about........you do what you have to do to protect yourself and loved-ones.
This was an unfortunate situation, but one that demanded immediate action; cops can not be everywhere.

As a Senior Citizen I'd like to make one thing perfectly clear. Don't fuck with us! We're to old to put up much of a fight so we have to shoot anyone who threatens us in our own home. We'll get away with it too,not a jury in this country would convict an old coot for shooting a young thug who was trying to harm an old person.

A lot of armchair quarterbacks chiming in from the comfort of their vantage point... I don't know the statistics, but many, many people (I think most, but I don't have the numbers) would not be able to look someone in the eye and take their life. And unless you're a psychopath, no one can do it without sorrow and remorse afterward. I commend Mr. Hoover for having the ability to do what needed to be done. I hope he can find peace in the fact that he was not only justified, he was right.
