    Frieda

  • Hello Frieda, Thank for the comment!!That is the reason why I post these songs. To remember "yesterday" A simplier time in life.

  • Thank you very much for posting this. I am getting married this May and want my husband to sing this to me. Do you know where I can find the lyrics online? This is a true love song and you can tell that they are singing with their hearts. Wish the music today was more like this. Thanks once again.

  • I wish you the best of luck. Agreed about the music of today. Thank for the comment!!

  • @evesorbit - Was "Stay" issued on an American 78? I never saw one. It most likely was on a Canadian 78 since those were pressed until at least 1961. I think Al Silver (owner of Herald) stopped pressing 78's in late '57 or early '58

  • This is fantastic!!!!

  • Ah,yes: July 4, 1968, Myrtle Beach: Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs (e,the Gladiolas of Lancaster, SC), the Tams and the Tams Band, WillieTee & the Magnificents and the Showmen

  • @jimwaid fitting as General Johnson was 14 when he wrote this song. and ¨Stay¨. welcome aboard.

  • This was the second time that the delivery of a Maurice Williams song was actually emulated in the remake, the first being "Little Darlin."

Happened plenty of times in my opinion(originals in paretheses): The Turtles "You Showed Me"(the Byrds); The Beach Boys "Barbara Ann"(the Regents) and The Mamas and Papas "Dedicated to the One I Love"(The Shirelles). Still have to give credit to the original that made it possible.

  • Thanks for posting this. I have always LOVED Bill Deal & The Rondells version and until now I was not aware that it wasn't their song originally.

  • thanks for sharing

  • An excellent song. From about 1961.

  • Stay was released in 1960...on a 45.

  • Maurice has his new CD coming out soon. Will let you know. You do know that he is the writer and composer for this song and here this is his wonderful voice with the original Zodiacs. We recently lost a few Zodiacs this year. I did a tribute show for them. Maurice's voice is still wonderful as ever and his talent going strong as he continues to write and entertain. Rock on Maurice!
