Hilo Nursery Arboretum is a located on kamehameha Avenue and is waking distance from downtown Hilo! It is a beautiful19.4 acer site with rare fruit, flower and palm trees, some of them growing there since 1922! The site owned by the State of Hawaii, is also utilized for propagation of rare and endangered Hawaiian and other plants species, reaearch and planting projects. A very cool location in town ! I enjyoed visiting with friends, picked fruit and filmed with permission from the officials. Colorful chicken running around was an added attraction!
