  • If you've never done this before then try for 15 seconds and see how you get on. If you feel you can go for longer than 15 seconds then do so, and then generally increase the holding times as you get stronger.

But if you feel pain rather than an ache in your back then stop immediatly. You could be doing more bad than good that way.

  • is it better to just hold for 15 seconds or hold for as long as you can and increase your holding time as you progress?

  • Supermans are bad for your back, so are roman chairs, both of which hyper extend your back.

  • "the superman is a poorly designed excercise it puts 6000 N (about 1300 lbs) of pressure on the spine" just read that in a back health book figured id let everyone know

  • did his in the us navy all the time. but instead of just holding up your feet and arms we move them instead. like swimming. dont let your knees or elbows touch the ground. this exercise also helps me on squats as well. good exercise overall but takes a lot of getting used to

  • he looks like a baby when he lais down

  • It hurts my balls

  • just layed down and did it thank you:)

  • actually My orthopedic doc prescribed this after a bout of sciatica, but he had me raise alternate arm and leg at first then had me progress to raising all 4 as I got better. It really helped and i honestly thought it felt it work in buttocks where it is suppose to. great exercise.

  • I've done something like this before one time in a gym class, only we move our arms and legs as tho we were swimmingm. It's friggen hard to do without waring urself out, but then again i guess no exercise is meant to be relaxing XD hahah! But i think ill try this one, looks a bit easier to do. Thanks for posting this! :D

  • Your head should be facing downwards!
