You know what? the truth is they can't handle real criminals, Chicago police and the terrorists are no different they're only good at abusing innocent civilians who did nothing wrong but to express their freedom of speech. Chicago police are like mobsters, what a shame!

Last time I checked the whole nation is a "freedom of speech" zone. same for the freedom of speech for street performers who are being limited to certain areas.

chicago has no freedom, you cannot sell or street perform without a permit. both of wich are not supposed to necessary in a free democracy. freedoms are supposed to be everywhere not just certain areas. it's freedom of speech not pay for the ability to ask permision. If homeless peole can win $75million , then buskers and peddlers are worth way more.

I would like to add that I agree with your opions that the war is unjust and we should not be in Iraq at all. However I think if you want to protest to in front of the whiter house in Washington DC that would be altoment civil disobodence.

No "RULES" Over Power the Constitution of the United States. It is the Law of the land and cannot be overturned by local Government. The Constitution said NOTHING about "Free Speech Zones". The polices were breaking the "RULES" of the Constitution.

I see wilmette's point, what if protestors decided to protest in front of your driveway disabling you from going to work. the police are there to protect others free rights from stepping onto your rights is all. all the vendors and booths have to pay to setup, why not these guys?
though, chicago police is currently the cities largest gang at the moment.
its hard enough to get around durring the taste regardless, July 3, 2008 the attendance was 2.1 million ppl to watch the fireworks. PAIN

Since when do you need a permit to pass out flyers at the Taste of Chicago? Please don't be blinded by the bullsh@t!! If you stand in front of the Daley center passing out flyers that he is a crooked mayor, don't you think it would only be moments before they told you that was not allowed? The truth is that Democracy is an illusion.
